Crantastic!

This year our family is going over to share Thanksgiving dinner with our friends, Eddie and Jocelyn. In anticipation of this event I went to the grocery store to do some shopping for side dishes. I noticed a sign posted at the entrance that said the grocery store is closed on Thanksgiving Day. Boy, I hope I don’t mess anything up– there’s no second chances. I won’t be able to send Nick to buy a new can of pumpkin two hours before dinner.Carefully, I filled the cart with groceries from my list–making sure I checked off each item when I found it. It’s very important that I get this right!
I returned home and realized I forgot the stupid cranberries.
How could I forget? They’ve been such a hot topic lately. I was just talking to (myspace messaging) a friend yesterday who actually makes the Cranberry sauce herself at Thanksgiving! At least that sounds better than shaking it out of a can, onto a plate…whala. What a lousy side dish.
Lousy or not, some people expect them. It’s a Thanksgiving tradition. I wrote Jocelyn to ask if she had any at her house, and she replied that it didn’t matter…they don’t like them either. Good. I really didn’t want to go back to the store just for a stupid can of cranberries.
And then I saw this video on Cape Cast, my favorite video blog.
I guess it really isn’t that difficult to go back to the store if I have to.

Here are a couple old photos I took while out for a walk at one of the town Cranberry Bogs in Yarmouth. Somebody must be eating them!
Oh, if anyone is still really worried about the lack of cranberry at our Thanksgiving dinner, relax… I just found a can in the cupboard. The tradition lives on!
